Seventh-Day Adventist Church

Children's Ministry

Adventist Children’s Ministries is focused on helping every child develop a personal relationship with God through Bible stories and Bible study. We want children to encounter Jesus through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. We aim to inspire equip and support children as disciples of Jesus.

GraceLink Sabbath School is a key focus. Emphasizing faith development and transformed lives through the key dynamics, total hour teaching, experiential learning, application and deep thinking is priority. Belief Bible study material and baptism is also a priority. Children are forming foundational beliefs in these first 14 years and it is important that they know, understand and live the beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

There is an emphasis on partnering with parents and supporting them as key disciple makers of children. The following are some resources to help your children reach up to God Stewardship, Worship and Family Worship

Baby Dedication

Baby dedication is not a time of salvation, it is it baptism, but it is a dedication on the part of the parents to bring the child up to love and serve the Lord. We have compiled some information, readings, commitments and resources that can be used in a baby dedication. We need to show our children that we take their commitment seriously and that we will be beside them in their faith journey.

Child’s Commitment Ceremony

Research indicates that between the ages of 5 and 12, lifelong habits, values, beliefs and attitudes are formed and that at this age the brain is the most receptive to spirituality. Children at this age are generally discouraged from being baptised into the church, as some consider them to be too young. However, when faith is not affirmed, children are left feeling unsupported or valued. We need to show them that we take their commitment seriously and that we will be beside them in their faith journey.

It is for this reason that the concept of a commitment ceremony has been developed by the Children’s Ministry Department of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

Jack Gives Back

Jack is a dog. And like other dogs, he doesn't know much about history or science. But he has figured out tithe. In fact, he understands the principle of tithing better than many humans, especially very young humans, who often resent having to give up some of their birthday money when the offering plate comes by.

In his first book Jack explains, in a way any child can understand, the importance of giving back to God. The simple words and charming photos will help you pass on to your children the same principles of stewardship that you've learned to live by.

If you want to order Jack Gives Back by Jannie Matthes contact us or your local Adventist Book Centre.
